SelfPay expands its digital services portfolio and accelerates the development of self-service payment infrastructure in Romania

SelfPay, the leading provider of self-service payment solutions in Romania, announces the expansion of its SelfPay Now mobile app functionalities, further strengthening its position as a key player in Romania’s digital and automated payments infrastructure.

The newly launched services mark an important milestone in the evolution of SelfPay Now into a comprehensive super app that centralizes essential financial and administrative operations within a single platform.

New services include:

  • Payment of the Romanian road tax (rovinietă) and the Bulgarian vignette, directly through the app;
  • Digital payment of the Fetești bridge toll, without intermediaries or waiting times;
  • My Garage – a dedicated section for vehicle management, where users can save and organize key information (license plate number, VIN, make, model). The feature enables easy access to saved vehicle data, automatic reminders for upcoming expirations (such as technical inspection or road tax), quick selection of a preferred vehicle, and faster purchasing of vehicle-related services.

These new features expand an already extensive digital ecosystem of over 200 integrated services, covering a wide range of recurring needs, such as:

  • Instant cash-to-card deposits, regardless of the issuing bank;
  • Free and fast card-to-card or peer-to-peer transfers within the app;
  • Utility bill payments to over 200 national service providers;
  • Local tax and fee payments to over 40 public institutions;
  • Recurring payments for building maintenance and other services;
  • Open banking integration, enabling users to check balances and view transaction history.

A scalable infrastructure with nationwide coverage

The SelfPay Now app, available for free on the App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery, currently has over 700,000 registered users. In parallel, the network of more than 12,000 SelfPay Payment Stations is present in strategic locations, including major retail chains, gas stations, public institutions, commercial centers, and residential areas across the country.

This hybrid ecosystem (digital + physical) offers public and private sector partners a scalable, efficient, and consumer-aligned distribution and collection channel. It contributes directly to cash reduction, improved collection rates, and greater operational efficiency.
